Product description profile cutterhead / safety cutterhead 60 mm:

2 identical profile knives (width 60 mm) are each clamped into the profile cutterhead / safety cutterhead together with the matching profiled chip limiters (width 58 mm). For this purpose, a profile knife is inserted opposite a chip limiter in one of the two grooves worked into the cutterhead in the shape of a tine. Then the supplied steel clamping wedge is inserted. There are M8 x 12 mm clamping screws in the clamping wedges. If these are tightened, the clamping wedge tensions the profile knives and the profile knives and chip limiters are thus fixed. Due to the high speeds during milling, centrifugal forces are generated which additionally push the clamping wedge outwards. This further increases the clamping force of the clamping wedges.

Important! Both profile knives must always point in the same direction of rotation. The rake face of the profile knife always points in the middle, in the direction of the clamping wedge.

By using profile knives with suitable profiled chip limiters, the profile cutterhead / safety cutterhead is limited to 60 mm chip thickness, in accordance with the strict regulations of the German employers' liability insurance association. It is low-knock and therefore suitable for manual feed. Attention: This tool must never be used without the appropriate profiled chip limiters.

INFO: General Instructions for Use profile cutterhead / Safety cutterhead 60 mm:

  • The safety regulations must be observed for handling the 60 mm profile cutterhead.
  • For the disassembly and cleaning of the safety cutterhead 60mm and the profile knife change the hands have to be protected with cut protection gloves.
  • The 60 mm profile cutterhead must be cleaned after use and checked regularly for proper function.
  • The safety cutterhead must be checked regularly. This allows damage to be detected and prevented in good time. If damage is found, it must be repaired before use. Otherwise the profile cutterhead must not be used.
  • The permissible maximum speed is engraved on the base body. This maximum speed must be observed when setting up the milling machine and must not be exceeded under any circumstances. The speed range must be observed.

When exchanging profile knives made of Solide Carbide, SP steel or HSS, extreme care must be taken and the following procedure must be followed:

  1. The M8 x 12 mm clamping screws may only be loosened and tightened with the 4 mm or equivalent Allen key supplied. Under no circumstances should hammers, levers or other unsuitable tools be used to loosen or tighten the clamping screws. This would cause considerable damage to the steel clamping wedges.
  2. Removing the clamping wedge and profile knife
  3. Thoroughly clean clamping wedges, profile knives, chip limiters and knife seat.
  4. Insert new or sharpened knives in the correct position.
  5. Check that the profile knives and chip limiters are correctly seated on the respective knife seat. If so, tighten the clamping screws with the 4mm hexagon socket wrench provided. (Torque = 3.5 Nm)
