How to order your profile knife with matching chip limiters:

Please send us your diagram or drawing with dimensions by email or fax. You may also send us a wooden template of the profile or a diagram by post. If you have no other option, we would also accept a detailed photograph of the profile in question. However, it is still important that the height and width of the essential features are provided. You will receive your profile knife blades with matching chip limiters as soon as possible after ordering.

The given price is for the individual manufacture of two 40mm - wide HSS profile knives and two 38mm-wide matching profiled chip limiters. The cutter head is not included in the price! TIP: The matching 40 / 50 mm profile cutter head is available in our shop at a special price!

We understand our craft:

With PWWU Präzisionswerkzeuge Wurzen we have decades of experience with the special production of such HS profile knives. Today, we manufacture these HSS special profile knives from durable HSS high-performance steel. If you provide us with a wood sample, then this wood sample will be precisely measured by us on a modern measuring machine. The measuring data is then loaded onto one of our CNC machines and the production of your HS profile knives can begin. If we receive a sketch or drawing from you, we will transfer it into a machine-readable file. You will not incur any additional profile costs or similar costs.

In order to achieve a long service life, all 40mm HS profile knives and chip limiters are ground in in our CBN deep grinding process. This is done under high coolant pressure with special grinding oil as coolant. This is why any heating of the HSS profile knives during production is prevented. A loss of quality, as it occurred earlier in the manufacture of profile knives with ceramic grinding wheels, can therefore be ruled out. The profiled chip limiters are then also manufactured in the same setting.

Cutting speeds during profile milling:

The cutting speed depends on the type of wood to be processed. It is determined by the diameter and speed of the cutter head. The cutting speed is given in m/s (meters per second). The choice of the correct speed of the cutter head is very important for a good result.

Below are the guide values for the cutting speed for cutter heads with profile knives made of HSS:

• Softwood: 50 - 80 m/s
• Hardwood: 40 - 60 m/s

Watch your step! However, the maximum speed indicated on the cutter head must never be exceeded!
