Tapered cup wheels with ceramic bond can be stored indefinitely
Ceramic bond consists of a mixture of clay, kaolin, feldspar, quartz or glass frit. At a firing temperature between 1100 and 1250 °C, these binders sinter or melt. As the pore space grows, they form the binding bridges between the abrasive grains. The fired ceramic binders are largely insensitive to chemical influences. This means they can be stored indefinitely! Due to their limited elasticity, however, they are sensitive to impact, shock and rapid temperature changes.
