The four-edged deburrer is manufactured as a shank cutter for finishing. This makes it particularly suitable for milling steel and cast steel. The deburrer can also be used for milling non-ferrous metals. It can also be used for milling various types of plastic.

Information: Burr and deburring

The burr is removed during deburring. Burrs are sharp edges, fraying or splinters of a mostly metallic workpiece that occur during a manufacturing or processing process. On the one hand, these can impair the function of the machine part within the end product (inaccuracies in fit, poor thread throughput, etc.), but can also cause considerable injuries such as cuts. The term "deburring" is therefore mainly used in metalworking. In woodworking, the term "edge breaking" is used. If a defined bevel occurs when removing the burr from an edge, this is referred to as a chamfer.

During mechanical processing, for example with milled or turned parts, a burr is created at the edges, caused by material displacement. During the processing of sheet metal, burrs occur during punching. Sometimes also during laser cutting, especially if the focusing of the laser beam is not correct. Thick sheets are also cut using plasma or oxyfuel. For this reason, burrs can also occur.
